CTCC general secy quits,joins BJP

After a 25-year-long stint with the Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee,General Secretary Mukesh Bassi resigned from the party on Saturday and joined the BJP.

After a 25-year-long stint with the Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee (CTCC),General Secretary Mukesh Bassi resigned from the party on Saturday and joined the BJP .

Bassi said he had been a “loyal soldier” of the Congress during his long association.

After resigning from the primary membership and all party posts stating “personal reasons”,Bassi was inducted by the BJP in a function at the party office. Speaking on the occasion,Bassi,who has held various responsibilities like general secretary,vice-president of NSUI as well as president of Chandigarh Youth Congress,said he was feeling suffocated for the last few days due to his party’s policies and its functioning. 

An industrialist and present president of the Chandigarh Club,Bassi said he joined the BJP due to its nationalist policies. Bassi was welcomed into the party fold by state BJP president Kamla Sharma and party candidate for the Chandigarh seat Satya Pal Jain.
