‘CRPF to raise 37 new battalions by 2018’

In view of the increasing threat to law and order in the country,37 new battalions of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will be raised by 2018.

In view of the increasing threat to law and order in the country,37 new battalions of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will be raised by 2018. The process will be carried out in two phases and this would add around 3 lakh personnel to the existing force in the total 215 battalions.

This was disclosed by IG,North West Sector,CRPF,Sat Saroop Singh while talking to Newsline.

“Today when women are taking an active part in the forces,including the Border Security Force,the CRPF is making an attempt to increase the presence of women from the existing number of 4,000 — slightly more than one per cent of the total strength,” added Singh.

The IGP was presiding over an award ceremony at the CRPF campus in Chandigarh. He was accompanied by other senior officers. the Director General’s disc and commendation certificates were presented to six officers.

These were awarded by the CRPF Director General and Jammu and Kashmir Police to officers and personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force for their commendable performance in operational and administrative fields.

According to officials,more emphasis is being given on training to tackle terrorism,naxalism and other issues affecting the law and order situation in the country as well as to serve United Nation missions.

The ceremony was attended by Taj Mohamad,DIG (Administration),North West Sector (HQs),CRPF Chandigarh,Nalin Prabhat,DIG,CRPF,Chandigarh Range,alongwith a number of senior officers ,subordinate officers and jawans.

Those who were awarded on the occasion were Nalin Prabhat,S D Pandey,Commandant 5 Signal Batallion,CRPF,Inspector Banwari Lal of Group Centre,Jalandhar,Sub-Inspector Vasudev of 13 batallion of CRPF,Havaldar Ram Chander of RTC,Dharmpur and Havaldar Rama Kant of Group Centre,Pinjore.
