During preliminary investigation it was found out that Amit had gone to Sector 34 before reaching Industrial Area,Chandigarh. Amit is a son of a former Chief Engineer of Punjab State Electricity Board. Amit apparently owed a lot of money to various companies he worked with.

J M Sachdeva,Amit’s father, told Newsline,“Amit generally spoke very less and showed no signs of depression. On the day of his disappearance he seemed quite normal and calm. He mentioned nothing related to his work and had no rivalry or dispute with anyone.”

Regarding many parties’ claims that Amit owed them money,Sachdeva said that these were just ‘claims’ for now as only Amit knew about all his business transactions. Amit was running a data entry business in Phase 8B,Mohali. Amit outsourced some work to other parties and paid them on completion of the work.
