Accusing Harinder Singh Sekhon,a Sub-Inspector with the Chandigarh Police,of running a money lending racket, his front man on Thursday moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking police protection.
Vikram Singh,a Panchkula resident, apprehends threat to his life from Sekhon and his wife, also a Sub-Inspector. Reason: people who were lent crores of money allegedly belonging to Sekhon through Vikram failed to return the same due to a slump in the market. Vikram has alleged that holding him responsible for the losses incurred by Sekhon,he is receiving threats from Sekhon and his wife that he (Vikram) will be implicated in false cases.
Seeking police protection,Vikram has requested the High Court to direct Punjab,Haryana and Chandigarh Police not to entertain any complaints against him at the behest of Sekhon, his wife and his brother.
Taking note, the High Court has issued notices to Punjab,Haryana and Chandigarh.
To corroborate his allegations,Vikram has relied upon a CD allegedly containing a recorded telephonic conversation between him and Sekhon wherein the Sub-Inspector is bragging about his looks, contacts and the influence to get a project worth Rs 500 crore cleared from a bank.
Vikram has alleged that Sekhon used to lend money at exorbitant rate through Vikram, who is a collection agent for a top telecom company. Vikrams links were used by Sekhon for recovery of money.
Vikram has alleged Sekhon has invested two and a half crores for which he was getting interest at the rate of six per cent per month, earning Rs 15 lakh as interest from lending money. Due to slump in the market the money lent… could not be recovered in time for which Sekhon held me responsible and started threatening me, reads the petition.
The petitioner has alleged that his car has been taken away by Sekhon and handed over to his friend,a woman, who lives in Sector 11,Chandigarh. Sekhon is threatening to implicate, the petition reads, the petitioner in false cases under the NDPS Act,cheating etc by using his influence with Chandigarh as well as Punjab Police. He has alleged that he and his wife is constantly receiving threats from Sekhon and his henchmen. Though Sekhon, his wife and brother have been impleaded as respondents, the High Court has not issued notices to them. It has first sought response from the three states.
When contacted,a shocked Sekhon told Newsline: I know Vikram. He is a friend. I am shocked to learn that he has levelled such allegations against me and my wife.
Refusing to comment on the accusations,Sekhon said,I have no knowledge of this.
