A day after his decomposed body was found from his house,family members of deceased Vishal Sharma,a Sub Inspector with Chandigarh Police today alleged foul play.
Sharma,a former Ranji player,had committed suicide.
Sharmas father Dr Dharampal Sharma today refused to allow Neetu Sharma,widow and Ashu,13-year-old son of the deceased to attend the last rites today in a cremation ground in Sector 25.
Father of deceased alleged that his son,Vishal Sharma,was being harassed by his in-laws. He added that Vishals wife had left him a fortnight back without any reason.
Sharmas widow reached the cremation ground along with her son and nine-year-old daughter but was not allowed to attend the last rites.
Taking stock of the accusations of foul play,the Chandigarh Police today decided to look into the death of Vishal Sharma. His body was recovered from his house in Sector 42 on Friday.
A senior police official said,We will look into the allegations and not confine our investigation to suicide. The circumstances under which Vishal died will be looked into.
Sharmas post mortem was conducted today at GMSH-16. Sharma was the only son of Dharampal. Sharma was a Ranji player and had joined Chandigarh police in 1995. Sharma was given guard of honor by Chandigarh police before the cremation of his body on Saturday.
