Barely days after two Home Guards volunteers were allegedly beaten up by a few youths in separate incidents,a UT Police constable suffered minor injuries after he was hit by an SUV near the Sector 24/25 Light Point on Monday.
According to police,the incident happened when constable Baldev Raj Singh and Head Constable Narinder Singh were on duty at the Light Point. A Fortuner SUV (DL-4C-4738) was signalled to stop by Baldev for tinted films violation. The car driver was asked to show the vehicle documents. However,he accelerated the vehicle and fled,hitting Baldev in the process.
He suffered minor injuries on his head,nose and legs and was taken to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital,Sector 16,where he was discharged after treatment.
Police have registered a case against the vehicle owner. A team would be dispatched to Delhi to arrest the driver.
Meanwhile,a case was registered against a Home Guard volunteer after he allegedly hit a 55-year-old man with a police jeep near Sector 15/16 Light Point on Monday.
The injured has been identified as Sector 15 resident Rajinder. The accused,Naresh Kumar,is posted at the Sector 24 Police Post. The accident happened when Rajinder was turning his scooter towards Sector 15 and the police vehicle hit him from behind. The Home Guard volunteer reportedly jumped the red light which led to the accident. Rajinder was injured and admitted to GMSH-16. A case has been registered against the accused at the Sector 11 police station.
