A Chandigarh police head constable was accused of allegedly abducting the wife of a Nepal citizen, who has been living in the city for 7-8 years. Nandlal Giri, the complainant,on August 24 filed a complaint against Head Constable Dhoop Singh for abducting his second wife,Kirti, whom he married a month ago. Singh, meanwhile, denied the charges saying he was being implicated.

According to Giri,he and his wife, were strolling in a park in Sector 8-B on August 21 when around 7 pm,Singh confronted them. Giri alleged Singh harassed him and took Kirti to an unknown destination in his private car and since then Kirti had not returned.

Singh, however, said,“I never took the complainant’s wife anywhere. After questioning the couple,I let them off.
