Consumer forum fines two leading firms for selling defective appliance

Feeling ‘cheated’,the customer moved the consumer forum accusing the company for being ‘deficient in service’.

Despite requests to replace a defective refrigerator after its motor fan stopped working,a company failed to replace the household appliance at the initial stage. Feeling ‘cheated’,the customer moved the consumer forum accusing the company for being ‘deficient in service’.

Accepting the complaint,the Forum penalised Whirlpool India and Big Bazaar at Zirakpur,imposing a fine of Rs 20,000.
