Working from his hospital bed,Pradesh Congress Committee president Kaul Singh Thakur on Saturday named former minister Brij Bihari Butail to head a three-member committee that will probe the circumstances that led to the party’s defeat in its stronghold of Renuka.
The BJP has wrested the Renuka assembly seat from the Congress in the bypolls held on November 30,while the Congress returned the favour in Nalagarh.
Thakur, who met with an accident early this week and is admitted to IGMC hospital, announced the formation of the committee on Saturday evening. “ Two other members of the committee are Rajesh Dharmani and Sohan Lal”,said PCC general secretary,Kuldeep Rathore. The committee has been given a month’s time to submit its report.
Meanwhile,Thakur is reported to have declined to be shifted to Delhi or other hospitals for treatment.
“I think the line of treatment adopted by the senior doctors at IGMC is the best. I have taken opinion of Dr Raj Bahadur from Chandigarh. He was also in agreement with me. There is no purpose to moving to any other hospital. I have full faith in the doctors here”,he said.
