Cong celebrations over Bansal elevation continue in city

The celebrations among the city unit of the Congress over local MP Pawan Bansal getting charge of the Railways Ministry continued,with some leaders travelling all the way to Delhi to meet and congratulate him,while other ministers held meetings in Chandigarh itself.

The celebrations among the city unit of the Congress over local MP Pawan Bansal getting charge of the Railways Ministry continued,with some leaders travelling all the way to Delhi to meet and congratulate him,while other ministers held meetings in Chandigarh itself.

Congress Leaders Devinder Singh Babla and H S Lucky along with Maninder Dhillon went to Delhi to congratulate Bansal.

A delegation of the Youth Congress led by Gurpreet Gabi also met Pawan Kumar Bansal at his Delhi residence. They distributed sweets and congratulated the minister on his elevation to the Rail Minister. Gabi said that it was a matter of pride for the city that the portfolio of Railways has been given to the local MP.

Congress leaders opined that it was after many years that the Railways Ministry has been given to someone from the party.

Most said that lot of positive changes were now being expected after this change in the ministry. Meanwhile in the city,a meeting of the office bearers of District Committee Urban – II was held. President of the committee Poonam Sharma thanked UPA chief Sonia Gandhi and PM Manmohan Singh for giving the required representation to the Congress leadership in Chandigarh.

General secretary Kamal Gupta said it was the right time for the Congress to implement its thoughts and policies for the development of the nation. Meanwhile,Congress workers and traders from various parts of the city gathered on Monday near Anand Complex in Sector 17 under the presidentship of Kamaljit Singh Panchhi to celebrate the elevation of Bansal. Sweets were distributed and crackers were burst.
