The members of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal (CBM) have demanded that the traders who lost their shops in the fire at the furniture market recently should be compensated. A memorandum has been sent on behalf of the CBM to advisor to the Administrator K K Sharma urging him to rehabilitate the traders at Maloya or any other authorised place in Chandigarh and also to provide some kind of immediate interim relief for them.

CBM chief patron Diwakar Sahoonja said the Chandigarh administration must formulate a policy of providing relief to traders. CBM president Charanjiv Singh appealed to the administration to develop a proper furniture market at an appropriate place in Chandigarh to rehabilitate the small traders who have suffered losses due to the fire incident.
