Civic body’s top agenda: Remove encroachments

A plan for removal of encroachments was formulated by the Enforcement Committee of Municipal Corporation in a meeting held on Tuesday. Special focus would be laid on Sector-17 market.

A plan for removal of encroachments was formulated by the Enforcement Committee of Municipal Corporation in a meeting held on Tuesday. Special focus would be laid on Sector-17 market.

It was further decided that a uniform will be made compulsory for the enforcement staff and the areas of the enforcement inspectors will be changed after every two months. The committee members desired that a list of enforcement inspectors be given to all councillors and they be updated on change in staff. The committee also decided to clear roads at the entry points to the city from all types of encroachment.

Councillor M P S Chawla,chairman of the committee,said the MC will ensure that the main markets are cleared of all roadside vendors and phariwallas.

Other members of the committee including councillors Devinder Singh Babla,Anil Kumar Dubey,Ram Lal,Ram Sumer Morya and Jagjit Singh Kang. Additional Commissioner P K Sharma,Tehsildar Enforcement Surinder Sharma and other MC officials also attended the meeting.
