Civic body officials claim three water samples tested negative

The Municipal Corporation on Wednesday claimed that the three water samples collected from Mauli Jagran,sent to its laboratory to check presence of bacteria have tested negative.

The Municipal Corporation on Wednesday claimed that the three water samples collected from Mauli Jagran,sent to its laboratory to check presence of bacteria have tested negative. However,the results from Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32,are awaited. Two water samples were sent here for testing. The tests were conducted,following large number of cases of diarrhoea reported from the area.

Samples are being collected from different houses in order to check the purity of water. Around 500 samples were checked yesterday and samples were collected today as well. Home Secretary Anil Kumar along with Municipal Commissioner Vivek Pratap Singh visited the area on Wednesday. During a check of the tubewells,cleaning of the reservoir of one of the four tubewells was recommended.

Agitated residents indulged in sloganeering. An effigy was also burnt by members of the Bajrang Dal. The civic body has placed tankers in the area to provide water to the residents. As many as 20 samples of water were collected by the additional deputy commissioner. The results of these samples are also awaited. Mayor Raj Bala Malik and BJP leaders also visited the area.

MC officials also found unhygienic ice being sold in the area that was being bought by the residents. It was thereafter destroyed. Vendors selling cut fruits in the area will also be removed.
