A 35-year-old Chandigarh-based businessman was found dead in his car in Kaithal on Thursday.

Sudhir Kalra reportedly had a dispute with his in-laws and had gone to Kaithal last night to bring back his wife and 11-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son.

Rajesh Kalra, elder brother of Sudhir, who is a manager in a city hotel, said he suspects the hand of Sudhir’s in-laws in the “sudden and mysterious death”. He claimed that Sudhir was “absolutely fit and fine” when he left home last night.

Rajesh claimed that Sudhir’s daughter had given a statement to the media today saying that he started vomiting immediately after drinking tea served at his in-laws’ house. While his daughter was taken inside the house,Sudhir was left in the car where he was later found dead, added Rajesh.

Sudhir’s body was taken to the Civil Hospital in Kaithal, for postmortem, the report of which will be given by the hospital on Friday. He was later cremated at Kaithal in the evening.

Station House Officer (Choti Mandi) Kaithal,Ravinder Kumar, who is investigating the case, refused to disclose much on the case.

Talking to Newsline,Sultan Singh,SP Kaithal, said a DDR had been made in the case and investigations are on. He said Sudhir had reached his in-laws’ house around 2.30 am and insisted that his wife come back with him. Since he was reportedly found to be in an inebriated state, his in-laws refused to allow him to drive back with the family, said Singh.

The SP added that Sudhir had gone back to his car parked near the house, but was found dead in the morning.

“No external injury mark was found on Sudhir’s body. We are waiting for the postmortem report.

We will also send the viscera to the forensic laboratory in Madhuban,” asserted Singh while adding that he was unaware of any alleged dispute between Sudhir and his in-laws.
