A city-based resident,Lovjot, traveling from Chandigarh to New Delhi by the noon Shatabdi (12046) on Saturday, found a dead insect in one of the two meals she ordered.

Lovjot said that she was traveling with her five-year-old daughter to New Delhi and she ordered one vegetarian meal and one non-vegetarian meal for lunch.

Talking to Newsline, she said that while eating her meal, she found an insect in her paneer. “I immediately called the traveler’s ticket examiner and showed her the insect, but to no effect. Even I called Doon Caterers and they failed to take any action”.

She also alleged that when she was about to reach New Delhi, she got a call from Doon Caterers offering two lunches free at their food court at the station. “I am surprised that rather than apologizing, they were offering me two meals,” she said.

When contacted,Jaspal Singh, unit head of Doon Caterers at New Delhi,he said,“Yes,we got a complaint. Our customers are supreme and they are prestigious for us and for Indian Railways. She has the right to show her side, but that was not an insect. There is one species called ‘Javitri’ when it is put in gravy or dal,it looks like a cockroach.”

Singh further said that her allegations should be checked by some authorities and substantiated to verify the same. “We are not providing a services to one train, but to many trains,” Singh added.
