Chandigarh: The body of an unidentified man was found at Modern Housing Complex,Manimajra,on Saturday morning. According to police,the man,estimated to be between 27-30 years of age,was a vagrant who regularly consumed alcohol. Police claim prima facie the cause of death seems to be excessive alcohol consumption.

Vehicle thief held,1 car,8 motorcycles recovered

Chandigarh: Chandigarh Police,on Saturday,arrested a vehicle lifter and said they had solved several cases of auto theft. A team of the Crime Branch laid a trap near Colony Number 5 to apprehend the accused,identified as Gursewak Singh.

A resident of Rajasthan,Singh is an auto-mechanic in the Sector 48 motor market.

Police said interrogation revealed that in order to maintain a lavish lifestyle,the accused used to steal vehicles from different places in the city using the master keys. After using the stolen vehicles,he would abandon them in free parking lots in the city.

Meanwhile,police have recovered eight motorcycles and a car till now. Also,they claim to have solved seven cases of vehicle thefts registered in different police stations.

The vehicles recovered so far include four Hero Honda motorcycles,a Pulsar,a Scooty,a Yamaha,a Bajaj CT-100 and a Maruti car. The theft of these vehicles was reported from several places including parking lots in Sector 22 and 32,Sector 27,Mauli Jagran,Hockey Stadium in Sector 42 and Guga Mari temple at PGI.
