More than 400 seats under the EWS category are vacant in 48 private schools of the city.
According to a press release issued by the education department,interested parents of the children belonging to the economic weaker section (EWS) and disadvantaged group can fill the registration forms for admission in any of the schools and submit the forms at Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 19.
Over 336 seats are vacant in 35 private education institutes and more than 54 in 13 minority schools.
These seats are to be filled under 25 per cent quota as prescribed in the RTE Act and 15 per cent in those schools which were given land by the UT Administration.
Parents can submit the registration form from March 22 to 28 between 9 am and 12 noon. The UT education department has given liberty to the parents to apply in more than one school of their interest,but they have to submit separate registration forms for each school.
Moreover,the education department has uploaded the registration form on its official website. For admissions,the parents have to carry attested copies of age proof,residence proof,income certificate,and certificate for disadvantaged group.
The minority schools of the city are bound to admit 15 per cent students belonging to EWS category. Such schools including Carmel Convent School,Sector 9; St Annes Convent School,Sector 32; and Sacred Heart School,Sector 26 have vacant seats for LKG classes while St Johns High School,Sector 26,has unfilled seats for UKG class and Mount Carmel School,Sector 47,for pre-nursery class.
These schools will inform through newspapers and also put information on their notice boards.
Furthermore,St Stephens School,Sector 45,has 32 seats for first class students and Ryan International Public School,Sector 49 has 12 seats for Montessori-I.
