Anurag Chopra and Kanwaljit Sandhu,both from Chandigarh,emerged winners among12 other teams to book a berth in the World Final of the Audi Quattro Cup 2013. In the India final hosted by Audi India at the Kemer Golf and Country Club on Sunday,Anurag and Kanwaljit who were representing Audi Chandigarh,garnered 43 points to qualify for the World Final to be held at Los Angeles. The Ahmedabad team comprising of Maulik Patel and Ragesh Vasa finished runner-up with a total of 37 points while the team from Mumbai consisting of Rahul Divan and Ashish Goel secured the third place with 34 points. by a massive margin of 190 runs in a match played during the ongoing Inter-School cricket tournament for U-14 Boys in

Chandigarh on Tuesday. The Khuda Ali Sher team’s decision

of bowling first backfired as St John’s School raced to a huge total of 212 runs for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs. Aadil played a fluent unbeaten knock of 63 runs to propel his team. Hewas ably supported by Nikhil who made 31 runs.

In reply to the total,GMSSS Khuda Ali Sher were bundled out for 21 runs in mere eight overs. Spandan Sarin (5 for 8) and Ratish (3 for 13) bowled well for St John’s. In other matches,St Kabir School,Sector 32,recorded a facile win over GMSSS,Sector 40,while Strawberry Fields World School,Sector 26 beat Mount Carmel School,Sector 47 by 60 runs. Batting first,Strawberry School posted a total of 118 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Captain Monarch Goyal scored anunbeaten knock of 64 runs. In reply,Mount Carmel team was skittled out for 58 runs. Manan Goyal bagged three wickets for the winning team.

Chess tourney from July 27

The Chandigarh Chess Association will organise Open and Girls Chess Championship for U-15 and U-9 at St. Xavier’s Senior Secondary School,Sector 44,Chandigarh on July 27 and July 28. Seeing the performances of the players,four boys and four girls in the Under-15 and two boys and two girls in the Under-9 will be selected to represent Chandigarh at the National tournament to be held at Kolkata in West Bengal (Under-15) from August 5 to August 14 and in Chennai,Tamil Nadu (Under-9) from November 8 to November 17. Tennis tournament on anvil

The Sports Department,Chandigarh Administration is organising U.T. Open Tennis Tournament (U-19 Boys & Girls) from August 1to August 3 at Lake Sports Complex,Chandigarh.
