The “Police Station Women Cell” of Chandigarh has received the lowest public ratings since the launch of the Chandigarh Police’s “QR Code-Based Citizen Review Service” on November 11, 2024. With an overall score of 2.6 and an honesty rating of 3, it has ranked the lowest among police stations in the city.

The system, designed to gather citizen feedback, allows the public to rate police performance on parameters like behaviour, response time, cleanliness, honesty, and accessibility. Citizens can access the service via QR codes displayed at police stations, Samavesh Centres, Police Headquarters, Traffic Lines, and the Chandigarh Police website.

According to Chandigarh Police, the Women Cell received only two responses, scoring 3.5 for cleanliness, 3 for honesty, and 2.5 for facilities. In contrast, Police Station 26 garnered the maximum responses, scoring 3.8 for cleanliness and honesty, and achieving an overall rating of 3.7.

The monthly rankings, publicly displayed on the Chandigarh Police website, are based on citizen responses and promote transparency. Police Station Industrial Area topped the list with an overall rating of 4.8 across all parameters, followed by Police Stations 11 and 36 in second place, and Police Station Mani Majra in third.

Since the service’s launch, 673 responses have been recorded, with senior officers regularly reviewing the feedback to address concerns and improve service quality. A police official said the rankings highlight areas requiring attention while recognising stations excelling in citizen satisfaction.

By empowering citizens to share their experiences, this initiative fosters accountability and contributes to the ongoing improvement of police services, the official added.
