To save their BJP councillor from embarrassment, Senior Deputy Mayor Davesh Moudgil and Deputy Mayor Hardeep Singh inaugurated the public health works in his ward after Mayor Arun Sood cancelled his plans at the last minute.
Sood could not attend the function, as his mother was not ill. Sat Prakash Aggarwal then immediately requested Moudgil and Singh to inaugurate his works as people in the Dadumajra Colony had already gathered and were waiting for the official ceremony.
Talking to the Chandigarh Newsline, Moudgil said: “ When I went, Aggarwal told me that the mayor could not come because his mother was ill. So we inaugurated it.”
The work of shifting sewer and water lines outside the houses and installation of pavers was started at an estimated cost of Rs 4.35 crore. Earlier same work was done from house No. 1 to 409 at an approximate cost of Rs 2 crore and remaining area from house No. 1144 onwards will be completed by the end of this financial year at an estimated cost of Rs 7.25 crore.
