THREE PERSONS were booked for allegedly opening fire on Jaswant Cheema, Ludhiana district president of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), Friday.
Cheema, 50, alleged that when he was returning home from Bhattian village in his Toyota Innova, two men on a bike shot at him near grain market at Jalandhar bypass. He escaped unhurt.
Cheema alleged that a bullet hit the rear door of the vehicle. Then they also allegedly hit his vehicle with a baseball bat with an intention to stop him but he sped up the vehicle and went to the police station.
FIR was been registered against three persons – Jagjeet Singh Bedi, his brother Ranjeet Singh Bedi, of Meharban and Vipan Kumar of Bal Singh Nagar at Salem Tabri police station.
All the three persons were into real estate business and police suspect the attempt was the fallout of a property deal dispute.
