Residents reeling under the scorching sun during the day were in for a pleasant surprise after a brief spell of rain in several parts of the Tricity on Saturday. The clear skies were covered by dark clouds early evening, followed by a heavy downpour for an hour in various sectors. According to the Met department, a total of 6mm rain was recorded in Chandigarh, while there were scattered rain showers in Panchkula and it recorded 1mm rainfall.
The maximum temperature recorded during the day rose by 2.8 degrees from Friday, while the minimum temperature dropped from 25.6 on Friday to 24.9 on Saturday.
The officials of Chandigarh Met department said the weather will remain cloudy for the next few days and there could be intermittent spells of rain.
“There can be scattered rainfall in different parts of the Tricity, but no heavy downpour is expected,” said an official.
