The Finance and Contract Committee on Wednesday fixed the parking rates for the new multilevel parking lot in Sector 17.
To get a monthly parking pass for a four-wheeler and two-wheeler, a person will have to shell out Rs 700 and Rs 250, respectively.
The same passes would be available for the shopkeepers as well. In an agreement with the municipal corporation, the traders of Sector 17 said they would all park their vehicles
at the new multilevel parking lot if they are given monthly passes. The agreement was signed to reopen the two parking lots in Sahib Singh and Empire Store.
Also, the committee decided that since the two reopened parking lots are without any contractor and people would prefer to park their vehicles there for free instead of paying for the multilevel parking, both the parking lots should be auctioned for six months.
It was also approved that the MC will pay an amount of Rs 3 crore to the Punjab government for laying of pipelines as a part of the project of bringing 35MGD raw water (Phase V & VI) from Jandpur/Behlolpur near Kharar to Water Works in Sector 39, Chandigarh.
The committee also approved appointment of a consultant for detailed engineering concept development site investigation design drawing, specifications and supervision of the execution of the work for integrated land fill management at dumping ground.
It was also decided that tractor driven leaf collectors may be purchased to drive away dry leaves from the parks. The collectors would cost Rs 18.37 lakh approximately.
