Once an annual affair,the Chandigarh Book Fair is set to return to the city after a gap of 15 years. The UT Administration,in collaboration with National Book Trust of India,Ministry of HRD,will organise the Chandigarh Book Fair 2013 in November this year at Leisure Valley,Sector 10.
A meeting of the core committee,chaired by Mohammad Shayin,deputy commissioner,was convened in this regard. It was attended by Joint Director,National Book Trust,Deputy Director (Exhibition) NBT,Director Higher Education,Chairman,Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi,principals,librarians and others.
Shayin said the Chandigarh Book Fair 2013 is being held after a gap of about 15 years by the administration. Special attractions include author interaction,sit-and-draw,illustrators corner,calligraphers corner,seminars,childrens corner. A decision on the theme of the book fair will be taken soon.
A Facebook page in the name of chandigarhbookfair has been created and residents can send their suggestions via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The organising committee is going to invite eminent authors for the book fair. Children activities like quizzes,competitions and various workshops will also be a part of the fair.
