NGO succeeds in reuniting seven-year-old with vegetable vendor father\
A seven-year-old minor boy was left chained by his father on the pretext that he was deaf and dumb and there was nobody else to look after him in his absence. However, last week when Ankit somehow managed to free himself from the shackles,he ran away from his house in Morinda to escape being chained again.
Since he was unable to speak or hear, the aimlessly roaming boy was spotted by the police and after finding to locate his whereabouts,he was lodged with Universal Disabled Caretaker Social Welfare Society,an NGO working for the welfare of disabled, abandoned and missing destitute at Padiala village near Kharar.
Ankits father Sarvesh Kumar Gupta when failed to locate his lone son, approached Morinda police to lodge a missing report but he was fortunate enough to be taken to the NGO,where his son was living for the past week. On being reunited with his minor son,Sarvesh told the police and the NGO people that since nobody was there in his house to look after Ankit in his absence,he used to chain the boy whenever he used to leave the home for earning the daily bread.
However,on being told that it was an inhuman act,Sarvesh promised not to chain his son anymore and would arrange somebody else to look after his son in his absence. With this promise,Sarvesh was given back his son,who broke into tears on looking his father after a week, said the NGO promoter Rajinder Kaur.
