For the second day running, the Chandigarh Football Academy team scored in excess of 20 goals,as their players had another goal feast and whitewashed Young Challenger,Rajkot 21-0 in another lop-sided match of the 10th Administrator’s Challenge Cup All India football tournament for Under-17 boys at the Sector 17 Football Stadium on Tuesday. It was a day when even the goalkeeper could have written his name among the scorers if he was not standing as the last line of defence. Nishu, the central defender, however, did not face such problem as he netted six times to emerge as the highest scorer for the CFA team.
Running high on confidence following their thrashing of Haryana Football Association 24-0 the previous day,the CFA team once again dominated the proceedings right from the beginning as the in-form Samuel Lalmuanpuia opened the account for CFA in the third minute of the match. After that it rained goals as the match was mostly played in the opposition half. Nishu, like others, was in top form and began his scoring spree with a spectecular finish in the 12th minute. Last match hero Daniel, who netted 11 times, was again in ominous form and found the back of the net on three occasions. He scored in the 14th,29th and 43rd minutes of the match. K Lalramzauva further increased the leeway with a clinical strike in the 23rd minute. Samuel added another goal to his tally by scoring in the 25th minute while Vikram netted twice in the span of three minutes as he scored in the 3th and 37th minutes.
Shokat also joined the party and scored a hattrick by finding the back of the net in the 47th,60th and 62nd minutes of the match. Such was CFA’s dominance in the match that the Rajkot players were mere spectators on the field and barely managed to get the ball into the Chandigarh team’s territory. Shajid then scored in the 65th and 85th minutes of the match while Ramdin (67th) and Movashir (73rd) were the other scorers for the team.
Earlier,in the morning,Mahilpur Football Academy outplayed Aizwal Football Club 3-1,at the Sector 42 Sports Complex ground. While the Northeast team successfully used one-to-one passing tactics, the physically superior Punjab lads took the aerial route. As the match was played on a fast note, the spectators did not have any dull moment. Rohit of Mahilpur Academy emerged as the hero of the day as he came up with a brilliant hattrick to steer the team to victory. He scored in the 12th,29th and 87th minutes of the match. David Lal Rin Chhana reduced the margin for the Mizoram team. Baljit Singh of Mahilpur team was shown red card for indulging in rough play and unsporting behaviour.
In another match of the day, defending champions Sambalpur Football Academy suffered a shock 1-3 defeat at the hands of Thau Sports Club,Manipur. It was Sambalpur Academy who drew the first blood through Bibhu Ranjan in the 29th minute of the play. The technically sound Manipur team kept pushing forward and were rewarded for their hardwork when Rishi Kumar Singh equalised in the 36th minute of the match.
After the breather, the Manipur team dominated the proceedings and Satmin Thang put the team ahead by scoring in the 64th minute. Shyam Dass netted the winning goal for the team in the 70th minute of the match.
Meanwhile,Gorkha Training Center,Shillong stunned Sahayatri Football Club,Howrah 3-2 in a thrilling match. Finding it hard to keep possession of the ball, both the teams indulged in rough play. Then out of nowhere Subhankar Sana found the opening goal in he 44th minute of the play as he curled the ball into the top corner of the goal with a brilliant freekick. Sachin Singh soon increased the lead for the Kolkata team with a clincal finish in the 48th minute. Down by two goals, the Shillong team upped their tempo and began raiding the opposition territory.
