After making a humble beginning with a few study programmes at its temporary campus Shahpur Degree College Central University of Himachal Pradesh has announced launch of more than a dozen new courses,most of these at the post-graduate level based on credit system of education.
The university has decided to encourage online registrations for the courses and later conduct this years entrance examination at four places,viz Dharamshala,Shahpur,Delhi and Hyderabad. The entrance examination for the PG programmes will be held on May 29,2011,and the last date for receipt of applications is April 30.
Making this announcement,Dr Furqan Qamar said the university which will have a split campus with centres at Beas in Dehra and Dhulaghar near Dharamshala has already prepared a master plan for campus infrastructure development,which will be a niche in Himachal Pradesh. The university has decided to take up its academic work in full swing with the launch of new programmes. Eleven new schools will be started from this session. These will have different study programmes.
These include School of Business & Management Sciences with study programmes like MBA in Functional Specialisations such as Marketing,Finance,HRM,Operations Management; and sectoral specialisations in Entrepreneurship Development,Financial Markets,Insurance,International Business and IT.
The next is School of Mathematics with Computer & Information Sciences Department of Mathematics and Department of Computer Science. There will be courses like MSc (Information Technology). The School of Physical & Material Sciences will include Department of Physics & Astronomical Sciences. School of Life Sciences will introduce MSc (Computational Biology/Bio-informatics).
