Koi mera kuch nahi bigaad sakta. Main kisi se nahi darti (Nobody can do any damage to me. I am not scared of anybody. The chief minister or anybody cant do any damage to me). Be it the CBI probe or the police, nobody can do anything to me. I am absolutely clean and innocent. I trust law and shall come out clean. This is nothing but a conspiracy of a few people, who want to get some medals and earn names by implicating me. Everything is a lie, said a visibly irritated Jaswanti Devi, prime accused in the infamous Rohtak shelter home scandal.
Jaswanti Devi and the other accused, including her daughter Simi and son-in-law Jai Bhagwan were produced in the Rohtak district court on Friday, where they were remanded to judicial custody for another 14 days. The accused will be produced in the court on June 29.
Jaswanti and her accomplices were brought to the court from Rohtak jail where they are currently lodged. The Rohtak police team, headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police,Dharna Yadav, also took one of the Apna Ghar inmates Meena to record her statement.
Sources disclosed that Meena levelled serious allegations of physical, mental and sexual abuse against Jaswanti,Jai Bhagwan and their accomplices.
No one dared to talk to her
AREA residents, told The Indian Express that the shelter home was nothing but hell on earth. Very often we used to hear cries of children in the middle of the night, but nobody dared to speak about it to Jaswanti. She was a very high profile woman with high political connections, said one of the area residents of Srinagar colony, where Apna Ghar is located.
Apna Ghar is closed from all directions and the front gate is at least 15 feet high. The shelter home always gave the impression of a prison. Nobody was allowed to enter or exit the premises except by permission from Jaswanti. Though we were neighbours,we never dared to interact with Jaswanti, said another area resident,on condition of anonymity.
