The family members of the Sector 45 resident who died after his two-wheeler hit stray cattle met the Mayor Subhash Chawla on Monday seeking the inclusion of agenda pertaining to giving a job to the widow of the deceased in the meeting of the general house. BJP leaders in a meeting held on Monday have decided to bring this as a table agenda in the meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

In an earlier meeting with the Mayor,a discussion was held on holding a discussion on the issue in the MC House. The family members have been demanding compensation and a job, blaming the civic body for the death. It was decided that a discussion would be held in the meeting of the general house and the decision taken there would be accepted.

While the meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, the agenda has not been included. The family members have alleged that the mother of the victim suffered a heart attack due to this. They had earlier also met the UT Adviser, but received no reassurance.

The BJP will be proposing a table agenda demanding Rs 10 lakh compensation to be given to the family by the Municipal Corporation along with a job to his wife. It is being demanded that instead of seeking help from the Administration, the MC should take action on its own. The issue is likely to lead to ruckus in the MC House.

After the accident, shifting of the stray cattle from the city has been started. The cattle is being shifted in batches of 60. In the first phase 550 stray cattle will be shifted to Delhi and Garhshanker.

The other issues that would be discussed in the meeting will be dissolving the committee that was to decide on the technology of the Sewerage Treatment Plant to be installed in Chandigarh. The BJP alleges that the committee has visited one plant and the other was to be visited before submission of the report. However, the chairman of the committee who was a Congress councillor resigned before the task was completed.

F&CC meet cancellation

The BJP councillors criticised the cancellation of the meeting of the Finance and Contract Committee at the last minute. BJP councillor Arun Sood said that this is the second time that the meeting was canceled barely an hour before it was scheduled and that they have not received any satisfactory reason. Mayor Subhash Chawla meanwhile stated that the meeting was canceled due to the Municipal Commissioner and one of the councillors not being available.
