The supporters of Students’ Organisation of India (SOI) Tuesday took to social media to lash back at the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) for posting cartoons on Facebook that are targeted at SOI.

As many as three cartoons were posted by the SOI supporters a day before the polling. One of the cartoons comes with a tagline ‘Looteri students’ council’ and depicts one of the members of the NSUI stating, ‘We steal funds from the students council by submitting bills for one of cup of tea at Rs 120.”

Another cartoon shows former president of Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC), Divyanshu Budhiraja, earning money out of every event being organised on the campus. Below his cartoon, reads a message, ‘Students’ Welfare jaye bhad mein, mere ko to bas ek Restaurant kholna hai.”(I don’t care about students’ welfare. I just want to start a restaurant)

The third cartoon is about NSUI’s achievements in the past one year. The tagline reads, ‘Since NSUI belongs to Congress, No wonder Corruption is in their blood!’ The cartoon shows how NSUI was allegedly involved in the issue of fake bills, following corrupt practices during the Jhankaar fest, and scams involving Goa and Vaishno Devi trips.

A spokesperson of SOI said, “Today was the right day to post these pictures as the voters have to make their minds as to whom they will be voting for. NSUI was posting irrelevant pictures, but we have shown the reality and the work that they have done throughout the year.”

However, NSUI did not bend to pressure. It posted a cartoon depicting party chief Vicky Midhukhera convincing voters to vote for SOI by giving them Rs 200 each.
