A 32-year-old carpenter,Dharam Pal,was acquitted on Friday by a Panchkula court on charges of murdering his friend in July 2011.

A 32-year-old carpenter,Dharam Pal,was acquitted on Friday by a Panchkula court on charges of murdering his friend in July 2011. The defence counsel in the case, had argued before the court that there was no chain of evidence that would suggest that Dharam was involved in the murder of Prem Pal,a resident of New Indira Colony. The prosecution failed to prove evidence for Dharam Pal’s involvement in the murder.

Prem Pal’s body was found near the railway line in Mansa Devi Complex on July 5,2011. Three days after the murder,Panchkula police claimed that he was killed by Dharam Pal after a scuffle. Police had alleged that Dharam had drugged Prem and then hit him on the head with a brick.

After hearing the arguments the Sessions Judge Anita Chaudhary, acquitted Dharam Pal of the murder charges. The state as well as the victims family is likely to move against the court decision.
