In connection to a carjacking case reported late on Wednesday night, the victim,Kulwant Singh, said that his son traced his mobile phone through a web-based software to somewhere between Zirakpur and Kalka.

The police, however, did not verify this, saying that no leads have yet been found in the case. Although the location was determined, the phone and the car have not been recovered yet. The case is being investigated by a team of Criminal Investigating Authority (CIA) and Chandimandir police.

On Wednesday night,Kulwant Singh,a resident of Sector 27,was had his vehicle robbed at gun point around 10:15 pm. Two armed robbers, with their faces covered, fled with the car without bothering about the mobile phones and cash that he was carrying and gold jewellery worn by Kulwant and his wife. However, one phone, the driving license and the car registration documents, already kept in the car, were taken by the robbers.

Kulwant Singh, who works as an accounts manager at BSNL in Chandigarh, was driving home with his wife in his white Verna after his visit to Gurudwara Nada Saheb. Near the T-point between sectors 25,26 and 27,a white swift overtook the victims’ car and stopped in front of it.

According to Kulwant,he stopped, assuming that the men in the car wanted to ask for directions. The two men threatened Kulwant with guns and asked him to hand over the car keys. After the robbers fled, the police were called and a case was registered at the Chandimandir police station.
