Canada introduces 10-yr Super Visa for NRI parents,grandparents

The Canadian government has introduced a Super Visa for Parents to clear the backlog of applications of such people who have applied for sponsorship visa to meet their relatives living in Canada.

The Canadian government has introduced a Super Visa for Parents to clear the backlog of applications of such people who have applied for sponsorship visa to meet their relatives living in Canada.

The first turbaned Sikh to be appointed a minister in Canada government,Tim Singh Uppal thousands of applications of parents and grandparents of the NRIs living in Canada are lying pending so the Canadian government has taken the initiative to issue Super Visa for Parents for 10 years to clear the backlog.

“No new applications would be entertained for next two years till the pending applications were cleared,” Uppal said. He was interacting with media during his maiden visit to Amritsar on Friday after taking charge as the democratic reforms minister in Canada.

Queried about the strict norms for student visa for Canada as compared to Australia and some other countries,Uppal said that Canadian government would now issue four time more visas than any other country to the students from India who were willing to pursue education in his country. He also indicated on a possible tie up with Khalsa College,Amritsar,in the education sector.

He also expressed possibility of long term cooperation and exchange in the fields of tourism,medicine,industry and sports between Canada and Punjab.

In India on the invitation of Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to be the Chief Guest at the semifinals of World Cup Kabaddi being held in Bathinda,Uppal said that he took two days’ leave from ongoing parliament session in his country to see Canadian team playing here.
