Malik was implicated in the 1985 bombing of Air India Flight 182 which killed all 329 individuals aboard.
A Canada court on Friday sentenced a man hired to kill Ripudaman Singh Malik, a former suspect in the 1985 Air India bombing case, to life imprisonment, saying that he will not get parole for 20 years.
The accused Jose Lopez, 26, was sentenced by the Supreme Court of British Columbia (BC) in New Westminster. Lopez had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
Malik was implicated in the 1985 bombing of Air India Flight 182 which killed all 329 individuals aboard. Acquitted in 2005, Malik was gunned down by two shooters in July 2022 in Surrey while he was sitting in his car outside his office.
The other accused in the case, Fox Tenner, was earlier sentenced to life imprisonment by the BC Supreme Court under a similar condition of no parole for 20 years.
The Canadian media widely reported the conviction and the sentencing.
The media also reported that both the convicts did not reveal the name of the person (s) who hired them to kill Malik.
