Joining hands with Disha Foundation – a leading NGO working on educating and empowering the next generation on the importance of a female child – Shimla’s Auckland House school,on Tuesday, decided to engage students and parents to scale-up campaign against female foeticide.

Invoking Mother Teresa’s words: “If a child is not safe in her mother’s womb, where else in the world will she be safe”,Vinita Shaw of Disha Foundation narrated some of the harrowing experiences of how educated urban parents have also defied the laws.

Shaw also highlighted the alarming figures of the ever decreasing sex ratio in Punjab,Haryana,Himachal Pradesh,Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. “Talking to adults is like talking to walls, its impossible to change their mind. This is why I interact with children because they are at a stage where their minds can be easily shaped for the better.”
