The Election Commission Saturday suspended Tarn Taran SSP Ravjot Kaur Grewal, three days ahead of the November 11 Assembly byelection.

Earlier in the day, Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar was assigned the additional charge of Tarn Taran SSP. Though no reason has been mentioned for the suspension of Grewal, the action comes after SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal lodged a complaint with the Punjab CEO against the officer alleging that the IPS officer was misusing the police to file “false” FIRs against party leaders and workers to hinder their campaign for the Tarn Taran bypoll.
