BSF dons a new role at Jalalabad

The Border Security Force have donned a new role-that of a guide. BSF personnel can now be seen telling farmers how to recharge ground water level or increase crop yield and not to burn their fields after harvesting,and even spreading words of wisdom to school children and what all is required to join the force.

BSF personnel can now be seen telling farmers how to recharge ground water level or increase crop yield and not to burn their fields after harvesting,and even spreading words of wisdom to school children and what all is required to join the force.

The BSF,in fact,has much more in their in to do list and will soon begin training programme for youths. Though classes are being held in tents at present,a five acre land between Jalalabad and Fazilka been projected.

DIG BSF Vimal Satyarthi said,“This border district has a high crime rate. The youths do drugs,are involved in smuggling and other immoral activities. To give them a meaning in life and change their focus,we have decided to start this project which can give them a direction.”

“We will seek help from the district administration. But in the time being,we have begun classes in the tents,” he said.

The BSF will hire resource persons from medical and engineering colleges,and agriculture department apart from their engaging their own officers.

The DIG said,“At recruitment rallies youth are disqualified on minor grounds,which they are not aware of. So once they get to know about them,they will prepare themselves better.”
