Briefly State: IOC releases 2,500 kl diesel

The Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s Jalandhar depot is set to release 2,500 kilolitres of diesel to the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited on Thursday.

JALANDHAR: The Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s (IOCL) Jalandhar depot is set to release 2,500 kilolitres (kl) of diesel to the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited on Thursday. This comes after The Indian Express reported that no diesel was available in around 70 per cent of HPCL fuel stations in Doaba and Majha regions,as the IOCL had stopped supply of diesel and petrol since Monday. A statement by IOCL Chief Corporate Communications Manager Chitrita Bose said that Indian Oil has released 25,480 kl of diesel to HPCL in the northern region — comprising Punjab,UP and Rajasthan — till May 16. This is 385 kl more than the agreed pro rata quantity of 25,095 kl till May 16,she added.

Tota Singh’s jail term suspended

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday placed under suspension the one-year imprisonment awarded to former agriculture Minister Tota Singh till further orders,in a case of misusing official car of the Punjab School Education Board during his stint as the state education minister. The court also confirmed his bail — granted by a Mohali special court earlier.

Chhina: Implement Amritsar Master Plan

AMRITSAR: State BJP executive member and chairman of Punjab Small Scale Industries and Export Corporation,Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina,on Thursday asked Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to implement the Integrated Master Plan for Amritsar at a priority basis. In a letter to Sukhbir,he sought integrated development with future needs of the city in mind,which “lacked basic amenities and facilities”.

Five IAS officers transferred

Chandigarh: The state government has transferred five IAS and two PCS officers with immediate effect. While Sarvjit Singh has been posted as GMADA chief administrator and the ex-officio director of town and country planning department,Kirandeep Singh Bhullar has been posted as MD Punjab Agro Industries Corporation and commissioner of Roopnagar Division. Ashok Kumar Gupta has been posted as secretary (Coordination),in addition to secretary (General Administration) and Arunjit Singh Miglani has been posted as registrar of Co-operative Societies,Punjab. Manjit Singh Brar have been made GMADA ACA.

Moga constituted as new sessions division

Chandigarh: To reduce the growing workload and for speedy disposal of cases,a new sessions division,Moga,has been constituted. Notification in this regard has been issued by the Department of Home Affairs and Justice. All the tehsils of Moga district will come under the jurisdiction of the full-fledged sessions division Moga.

Verka Sewerage Project foundation laid

AMRITSAR: Amritsar MP Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu and and her husband Navjot Singh Sidhu on Thursday laid the foundation of the Rs 160-crore sewerage project at Verka. The project,which will set up two treatment plants,will be completed by November 2013.

Punjab to adopt single file system

Chandigarh: The state government has decided to start a single file system in all departments. Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal,various departments has been asked to submit their suggestions regarding the system within a week. The government has taken important step to remove all unnecessary hindrances and time wastage in the way of file clearance process,said a spokesperson.
