Special summary revision of electoral rolls from Oct 1

Chandigarh:The election commission will conduct the summary revision of rolls between October 1 and October 31,this year in Punjab. A spokesperson of the Chief Electoral Officer,Punjab,on Sunday said the draft publication of the photo electoral roll would also take place on October 1. He added that all citizens who will attain the age of 18 on January 1,2013 will be eligible to register themselves as voters,provided they are not disqualified to do so for any reason.

Chandigarh:The Punjab government has set up a one MW solar power plant at Phullokhari village in Bathinda district at a cost of Rs 13.10 crore Non Conventional Energy Minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Sunday said the power generated from the project is evacuated to 66KV grid sub-station of Punjab State PowerCorporation Limited through a dedicated transmission line.

Cong MLAs to meet governor on Sept 25

Chandigarh:Leader of Opposition Sunil Jakhar on Sunday said a delegation of Congress MLAs will meet the Punjab governor on September 25 to stress on the need for an emergency session of the state legislature,“to discuss the unconstitutional practice adopted by the SAD BJP government in imposing taxes after presenting the state budget.” “MLA’s will state that as legislative conventions are being abused and tweaked for political expediency,it is not only dangerous for democratic traditions but will embolden SAD-BJP government to take more such anti-people steps in the future,” he added.
