CII reconstructs damaged houses in Leh
Chandigarh: Union Home Minister P Chidambaram handed over the keys of the first house reconstructed under the CII Leh Rehabilitation project in Saboo village in Ladakh on Saturday. Chidambaram was on a visit to Leh to take stock of the work on rehabilitating the victims of flashfloods. The CII team told the minister that the construction cost of each house was close to Rs 5 lakh. The CII team has been working in Leh since August 14. CII has undertaken to build all 13 totally damaged houses in Saboo,built under the Prime Ministers Model Village Scheme. CII has completed work on two houses and will take up the remaining 11 in March 2011 as the harsh winter has brought reconstruction activity to a halt,said a statement issued here on Sunday.
