JALANDHAR: Jalandhar police seized two kilos of heroin worth Rs 10 crore with the arrest of Jaspreet Singh,a resident of Ludhiana and Satnam Singh,a farmer from Narli village in Amritsar while the king-pin,Pargat Singh managed to escape. DSP HPS Khak informed that a police naka laid near Patel chowk,on Wednesday,stopped a Skoda vehicle. A man got out of the vehicle and ran prompting a search of the car. In addition to the heroin,a country-made pistol and two live cartridges were also recovered.
2,447 students booked for cheating
CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Education Board have booked as many as 2,447 candidates,on charges of using unfair means,during the semester examinations conducted by the Board of School Education,Haryana,which concluded on Wednesday. Besides this,20 teachers were also relieved from examination duty during the examinations. The Boards Secretary D K Behera said that examinations of some subjects conducted at 22 centres were cancelled (which will be reheld soon) and 17 centres were shifted to other places.
Three US-made pistols recovered
NAWANSHAHR: Nawanshahr police seized three US-made pistols with the arrest of three people including leader of International Sikh Youth Federation from Malaysia. Nawanshahr SSP,Narinder Bhargav said each of the accused had a pistol and added that Malaysia-based Harminder Singh Mintu was the leader of the other 2 accused Inderjit Singh and Dinesh Sharma.
Two students held for selling pistol
JALANDHAR: Two students pursuing a B-Tech from Lovely Professional University have been arrested by the police (through a tip-off) with a country-made pistol,which they had brought from Bihar to sell in the local market. The arrested have been identified as Kaife Azmi and Abhishek,both natives of Betia,Bihar.
Ferozepur Cantt gets recreation centre
Ludhiana: Golden Arrow Colosseum was inaugurated at Ferozepur Cantonment by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Vajra Corps,on Wednesday. The colosseum has been established under the vision and guidance of GOC Golden Arrow Division and is a recreation-cum-adventure facility including a bowling alley,the only military station in India to possess the facility.
Four killed after LPG cylinder bursts
SHIMLA: Four members of a family,including an infant were burnt alive when an LPG cylinder suddenly caught fire near Baddi on Tuesday night. The deceased were residents of Uttar Pradesh. Preliminary police probe revealed that the mishap took place around 10 pm when Pushpa used a lighter to ignite the gas burner. The room caught fire owing to a leaking cooking gas cylinder.
