Amritsar: A major part of the fire that had gutted Khanna Paper Mills in Amritsar on Tuesday has been contained, Rajat Aggarwal,Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar said. In a joint press conference on Wednesday,Aggarwal said it could take another 12 to 24 hours to completely douse the fire. He added that a major tragedy was averted after administration moved diesel tankers carrying 14 thousand litres of diesel and two sulphur tankers away from the fire site in a timely manner.
11-year-old boy abducted in Amritsar
Amritsar: An 11-year old boy,Karan,was abducted Tuesday afternoon in Amritsar. The boy was playing outside his house near Telian Wali Gali shortly before he went missing. The boys father,a commercial auto driver,received a call from the abductors but no ransom was demanded. Investigations by the police are on.
Capt condoles Mehdi Hassans death
Chandigarh: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today condoled the death of Gazal king Mehdi Hassan. In a statement,he said that Hassans death was a great loss to the entire sub-continent and that the void created by the maestros death will be difficult to fill.
Sell fertilisers at old rates: Govt to dept
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government has directed the Agriculture Department to ensure that the old stock of DAP fertilisers are sold at the old rates.Director of the Agriculture Department,Mangal Singh Sandhu on Wednesday said the department has also been directed to initiate action against those who violate the orders.
