Shimla: The demand to create Rohru as a separate district gained momentum on Thursday after Rohru MLA,BJPs Khushi Ram Balnatah,led an all-party delegation to meet Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal. Earlier,Balnatah had written a letter to Dhumal stating that Rohru met the parameters for creation of a district. Meanwhile,Independent MLA Rakesh Pathania began a relay hunger strike in Nurpur,demanding that Nurpur be created as a district.
Free education loans for Himachal girls
Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to disburse interest free educational loans to girls for technical and vocational courses in two instalments instead of the five at present,Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sarveen Chaudhary said. The Board of Directors of Women Development Corporation would now disburse the Rs 75,000-loan in two equal instalments of Rs 37,500 each
HPU formulates stricter norms
Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh University has decided that from the current academic session (2012-13),no student would be allowed admission in the higher class unless he has completely passed the previous class. Registrar C P Verma said students placed under compartment or who want to re-appear in one or two subjects will not be allowed in higher classes.
Himachal not to launch BRMS project
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh will not implement the Bachelor of Rural Medicine and Surgery (BRMS) project proposed by the Centre as a three-and-a-half year degree course,health minister Rajeev Bindal assured a Indian Medical Association delegation on Thursday.
