CHANDIGARH: The Bharatiya Janta Party Kisan Morcha will hold rail roko agitation on April 3 in eight states to ensure that the UPA government implements recommendations of the M S Swaminathan Committee and provide Rs 500 bonus per quintal on wheat. BJP Kisan Morcha national media in-charge Vineet Joshi said that a one-day rail blockade will be held in eight wheat producing states,This will be a symbolic protest and serve as a warning to the UPA government to accept the demands of the farming community, Joshi said.

Nahan: Kiran Bala (27),a sewing teacher,jumped in Renuka lake with her nine-month-old girl Aushi and committed suicide,Rameshwer Thakur,Sirmaur Superintendent of Police said. The deceased had hired a boat to reach the middle of the lake before jumping in and had informed her relatives about committing suicide,he added.
Justice Kuldeep now permanent judge
Shimla: Justice Kuldip Singh was sworn-in as permanent judge of Himachal Pradesh High Court on Monday. Chief Justice Kurian Joseph administered the oath of office to Justice Singh in a ceremony held in the Courtroom of the Chief Justice. Earlier Justice Singh was additional judge of the High Court.

HARYANA: People blinded due to burn injuries or acid can now regain their sight with the help of stem cells. Dr Virender Singh Sangwan,Associate Director and Chairman Cornea Service at LV Prasad Eye Institute,said while speaking on the issue of transplant of stem cells at a function organised at BDS University of Health Sciences in Rohtak on Monday. Sangwan claimed that stem cells can enable the blind to gain sight irrespective of the cause of their blindness.
