Forty veteran golfers from North India and 30 local players will compete for the coveted Koti Cup on Sept 24.

Two-day Koti Cup from September 24

Shimla: Forty veteran golfers from North India and 30 local players — drawn from villagers around Naldehra — will compete for the coveted Koti Cup on September 24 and 25,said Brig B S Kanwar – retired army officer who hosts the event. The Cup was instituted in 1991 by Rana Divesh Chand,erstwhile ruler of Koti state to enable local golfers improve their competitive skills.

Narain to speak at HC’s colloquium

Shimla: Environmentalist and Director General of the Centre for Science and Environment Sunita Narain will deliver her key-note address at the High Court’s next colloquium scheduled for September 25,on fundamental duties of citizens with regard to protection and improvement of the natural environment. Narain,a Padma awardee has done pioneering work on the environment and protection of the natural resources including rain water harvesting,conservation of the wildlife and environment,beside heading the task force on Tiger conservation.

GNDU to promote textile education

Amritsar: Abhijit Naikdesai,General Manager (Operations) and Naresh R Bhatt,Honorary Secretary of Society of Dyers and Colorists (SDC),UK visited the Department of Applied Chemical Sciences and Technology of Guru Nanak Dev University here on Tuesday to interact with faculty members and students.

University to hold coaching classes

Amritsar: The Guru Nanak Dev University will conduct a 9-week coaching class for UGC-NET (December 2011) aspirants under the aegis of its All India Services Pre-Examination Training Centre situated in the Social Sciences Block of the University. Dr Jagrup Singh Sekhon,Director of the Centre said the classes will be held between October 12 and December 14.
