The family of seven-year-old Vijay, son of a vendor Rishi, who has been missing from Ramgarh village since January 26,has received a ransom call for Rs 10 lakh. “Vijay had gone to play outside his house on January 26 and did not return till late evening. The next day his father lodged a complaint with the Ramgarh police post,” said the Chandimandir SHO,Inspector Surinder. “Late on Thursday Rishi got a ransom call for Rs 10 lakh,” he added.

Panchkula DCP Maneesh Chaudhary said that he has formed five police teams, headed by ACP (Crime) Dheeraj Setya to crack the case. Sources said that the police have traced the phone number from which the call was made but are taking extra care to ensure the boy’s safety.

However,a police officer cautioned,“It can be both ways. It can be a fake caller who wants to make money as pamphlets were issued by the local police post after Vijay was missing. It can be that the caller is the kidnapper.”
