Body of youth who drowned in Sirhind canal recovered

The body of 19-year-old Rohit,who drowned in Sirhind canal in Rupnagar on September 15,was found after a four-day-long search.

The body of 19-year-old Rohit,who drowned in Sirhind canal in Rupnagar on September 15,was found after a four-day-long search.

The body was recovered from Goraya,about 100 kms from Rupnagar,around 8.30 am on Thursday.

Rohit Kumar,a resident of Sector 52,on Sunday had visited Sirhind canal to immerse an idol of Lord Ganesha on Ganesha Chaturthi.

According to police,Kumar drowned in the 20-feet deep canal after diving into it.

Talking to Chandigarh Newsline,the deceased’s brother,Lalit said,“For the past four days,we had been searching for our brother. Finally,one of our family members noticed Rohit’s body at Goraya.” The body will be cremated on Friday.
