The body of a 16-year-old girl was found near the forests of Buddi village in Morni on Sunday, two days after she had allegedly eloped with a boy. In a bizarre turn of events, the boy told the police that both of them had consumed poison, after which the girl,a resident of Koleo village, died.
According to the police, the boy,a student of Class XI at a government school, and the girl,a student of Class X,did not return to their homes after school on Friday. On this, the girls family registered a complaint of kidnapping at the Chandimandir police station.
The boy,a resident of Tapana village, told the police that they both consumed poison on Saturday night, after which she died. He said they had spent the previous night in the forests and burnt their books to protect themselves from the cold. He,however, survived even after consuming the poison and managed to reach a dharmshala where he spent Saturday night. On Sunday morning,he talked to the dharamshala authorities, following which the girls parents were informed.
The police registered a case against the boy,who was later held. We are still investigating the matter and are suspecting murder as well. The boy said that he had consumed poison but nothing happened to him. This will be confirmed after a medical examination, said Inspector Arvind,SHO,Chandimandir police station.
While the police sent the girls body for a post-mortem,they took the boy for medical examination at General Hospital,Sector 6.
