The DNA report of the blood samples collected from a car,in which Panchkula financier Vinod Mittal was allegedly abducted along with his son Yashan before they were killed, have confirmed that they are of Vinod.
Anticipating such a possibility, the Panchkula police had sent the samples, along with that of Mittals father Ved Prakash,to the scientific laboratory at Madhuban.
According to the police, the DNA report will strengthen the prosecutions case against the accused. In the absence of the bodies that could not be recovered till date, the DNA report will act as evidence, said Superintendent of Police Amitabh Dhillon. He said while the chances of recovering the bodies now appeared to be bleak, efforts were on to arrest Raju, the main accused. Raju, along with his family, have been absconding ever since the crime took place. The Panchkula police have announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for information about them.
On February 14,Mittal left with Yashan in his new Santro car to meet business partners Raju,a resident of Baltana, and never returned. The police found out later that the two had been murdered and their bodies thrown in a river near Rajpura. Six people have been arrested till now for their alleged role in the crime. They are Ashok,Sanjay,Chotu Khan,Sonu,Rajus uncle Kishan Lal and another relative.
