Post-midnight blackout drills held in Amritsar, other border districts of Punjab
Asked about reports of loud sounds being heard in the border areas, Amritsar City Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said there were no blasts in the city.

A blackout drill was held in Amritsar in the early hours of Thursday as a precautionary measure, district authorities said. This led to electricity having been cut off in several areas for a couple of hours.
In the morning, local residents in two villages found some debris in the fields, with police saying these fell during the night. Amritsar Rural SSP Maninder Singh said, “Our on-ground teams have been inspecting the debris that fell in Jethuwal and Pandher villages. These objects fell last night. So far, there is no loss of life or property.”

Asked about reports of loud sounds being heard in the border areas, Amritsar City Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said there were no blasts in the city.
On the blackout, the Amritsar district administration sent a message at around 1.52 am, saying, “As a precautionary measure, the Amritsar District Administration has resumed the blackout drill. Please stay indoors, do not panic, and avoid gathering outside your homes. Kindly ensure that all external lights of your house remain switched off.”
Similar precautionary blackouts were conducted post-midnight in Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Fazilka, and Pathankot districts, as per official information.

“Yes, a blackout rehearsal was held at midnight in parts of Tarn Taran after 2 am,” confirmed Rahul, Deputy Commissioner of Tarn Taran.
Varinder Brar, SSP Fazilka, also confirmed the midnight blackout in his district, which was preceded by sirens.
Ferozepur district was the first in Punjab to conduct a blackout drill on Sunday, from 9 pm to 9.30 pm.
